the swedish chemicals agency (kemi) has published a report recommending a national ban on bisphenol a (bpa) use in thermal paper, including for tickets and receipts.

kemi states in light of current evidence on the health risks of bpa the ban can be recognized as a precautionary approach to protect human health, especially health of young people.

the report is the result of a government consultation on this issue, and also tries to explore potential alternatives to thermal paper, including examination of any associated risks of substitutes.

in usa several states have published bills to ban bpa in thermal paper, and one of them has been effective in connecticut.

besides banning bpa in thermal paper, bpa is widely banned in baby bottle and relevant children’s products and food container.

as a professional third party test body, ctt remind you to keep open eyes on legislature on bpa in relevant country or area, and make precautionary approach to ensure smooth trade.
