recently, european commission has drafted a regulation on comitology register to amend annex xvii of reach ((ec) no 1907/2006) for the purpose of prohibiting the use of lead and its compounds in jewelry articles. the proposed date of entry into force is the twentieth day following the publication in the official journal.
this draft regulation is proposed to ban jewelry containing lead and lead compounds with a concentration greater than 0.05% (500mg/kg) to be placed on eu market by adding the item 63 on the base of reach article 133.
