39 exemptions hae been issued of the rohs directive of eu up to now, which are all technology infeasible in the industry currently. while, with development of technology, some outdated exemptions may be abolished or the new may be increased. according to the routine, rohs will make assessment on the exemptions every four years.
according to article 5 (2) of directive 2002/95/ec the commission has launched a stakeholder consultation on three existing exemptions of the directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances (rohs) in electrical and electronic equipment, and it covers:
● exemption 30 for cadmium alloys as electrical or mechanical solder joints to electrical conductors located directly on the voice coil in transducers used in high-powered loudspeakers with sound pressure levels of 100 db (a) and more.
● exemption 31 for lead in soldering materials in mercury free flat fluorescent lamps, used for liquid crystal displays, design or industrial lighting.
● exemption 32 for lead oxide in seal frit used for making window assemblies for argon and krypton laser tubes.
the consultation is solely to collect stakeholders'contributions to provide the commission with recommendations on exemptions'justification, but not to add any new exemption.
the consultation will be open until october 15, and ctt will keep the attention on the update of rohs, providing our latest information and helping enterprises to avoid risks of environmental security.
