the californian office of environmental health hazard assessment (oehha) has announced a proposed amendment to proposition 65 to reflect recent findings that hexavalent chromium compounds can be carcinogenic following oral exposure.
previously, hexavalent chromium was listed in a section of the regulations as posing no significant risk when ingested. the oehha is proposing to remove this reference, subject to a public comment period with the deadline 31 october 2011.
